The Triple Eight Professional CopTool™ is a new everyday carry tool designed by retired police officer and editor of American Handgunner, Roy Huntington. According to the manufacturer, the CopTool was designed to put big-tool cutting power in a tiny package. It joins the S.O.L. Knife™ and WrightKnife™ in the Triple Eight Professional lineup.

The Triple Eight Professional CopTool is a compact folding version of a six-inch fixed-bladed tool with a belt cutter, scraper and serrated cutting edge that Huntington designed upon his retirement from law enforcement after 24 years of service.

Triple Eight Professional CopTool is a versatile new everyday carry tool.

Huntington states that, after breaking all manner of folding and fixed-bladed knives during his law enforcement career, it dawned on him that he didn’t need a knife—he needed a tool. He realized that he used an old screwdriver more than he used a big knife and that the small pocket folder he had with him took care of the general cutting duties.

Triple Eight Professional CopTool is exceptionally compact and lightweight. Closed, it measures only 3 inches long. Opened, it measures 4.35 inches. It is 1.0 inches wide at its widest point and is only .26 inches thick. Total weight is just two ounces.

Triple Eight Professional CopTool features innovative new action and locking system.

The Triple Eight Professional CopTool features a 1.25-inch blade that includes a recessed cutter (to cut seat belts, webbing or 550 cord), a straight serrated cutting edge and a scraper/pry bar tip. The blade is made of satin-finish, heat-treated, 440 surgical stainless steel.

Scales and pocket clip on the CopTool are made of blackened 420 stainless steel. The handle features a key ring/lanyard ring for pocket carry, key ring carry or neck knife carry. The pocket clip on the handle can also be employed as a money clip, if desired.

The Triple Eight Professional CopTool features an innovative new action and locking system designed to provide virtually the same performance and leverage as a large fixed-blade knife. Triple Eight Professional refers to it as a Folding Fixed Blade Knife™.

The CopTool utilizes Triple Eight Professional’s patent-pending T8P Axle® design that provides 360-degree one-handed operation and superior lateral strength. The T8P technology incorporates a massive pivot pin (axle) for the blade to rotate on.

To open the Triple Eight Professional CopTool, simply snap open the top half and rotate it completely around until it snaps closed. To close the knife, simply reverse the opening process. Lock-up is exceptionally secure, with no lateral blade play whatsoever.

Triple Eight Professional knives include (from left to right) S.O.L. Knife, CopTool and WrightKnife.

In summary, the Triple Eight Professional CopTool is a great little tool. It provides the performance of a bigger tool in an ultra-compact, lightweight package that’s ideal for everyday carry.

The Triple Eight Professional CopTool has a limited lifetime warranty. If for any reason you’re not happy with the material or workmanship, Triple Eight Professional will repair or replace it for the life of the product. The suggested retail price is $49.95.
