geenral questions

I'm confused. Is S.W.A.T. a newsstand publication or an internet publication?

S.W.A.T. has been distributed to newsstands and bookstores worldwide for more than two decades. When Group One Enterprises purchased the magazine in 2001, we recognized the need to offer internet flavors also. Today, in addition to our world class newsstand magazine, we offer Back Issues Only in downloadable electronic format (PDF files).

Since electronic files can never replace the classic print magazine, these downloads are offered on our web site After the issue is no longer available on the stands. (Printed back issues are also available for purchase.)

Why do I have to wait 4-6 weeks for my first issue?

A new issue of S.W.A.T. comes out every four weeks. Add to this a two week lead time between the date we close an issue for new Subscriptions and the date that issue is actually received (label runs, printing and mail delays). Therefore, if you subscribe today, depending on where we are in the Production Schedule, your first issue will arrive as early as two weeks and as late as six weeks after your order.

I received a renewal notice. How can I tell when my current subscription expires?

Your expiration date is located on the Mailing Label on the front cover of each mailed issue of S.W.A.T. To learn how to decode the expiration date, click the Sample Mailing Label at left.

I received an issue that was torn. What's up with that?

This is a problem that all titles occasionally see due to the new (improved?) USPS High Speed sorting machines. Some have tried mailing in plastic bags, though industry reports indicate that this does not solve the problem. S.W.A.T.'s answer is to increase the paper weight on the first and last four pages to the weight that others use only on their covers (compare and see). Though more expensive, this is more effective. However, if you've received a damaged issue for any reason, please return just the cover with a note and we'll ship you another:

Why do Subscribers to the magazine get 40% off the price of the downloads; why not the rest of us?

Because our Subscribers have already paid for the issue. They download the PDF's in order to maintain their own electronic library of S.W.A.T. issues. Those who wish to purchase only PDF's get the same great deal we offer at the newsstand....and you can save even more by subscribing and taking advantage of the 40% PDF discount. Do the math and see.

I'm a Subscriber. Where can I find my Discount Code?

Check any issue that was mailed to you. Your Discount Code is located on the Mailing Label on the front cover. To locate the Discount Code on the label, click Here.

Can I buy a PDF Subscription?

Nope. We're already confused enough. Please don't add to it! PDF's are offered on the Web site as they become available.

In my area, S.W.A.T. can sometimes be tough to find on the stands. Why is that?

Because many chain retailers are either morons or bed wetting liberals. (There, we've said it!) If we show an image of a firearm on the cover (and haven't been on their stands since Truman was President), they go into a dither. However, money talks. If they find they can make money from us, they welcome us with open arms. As a result, S.W.A.T.'s distribution is up 300% in the past year alone...and we're only warming up!

If your local newsstand or bookstore doesn't carry S.W.A.T., politely ask the manager to look into it. You might be surprised at the result. Of course, the sure-fire way to guarantee that you won't miss an issue is to purchase your newsstand copy early or to get a subscription.

I'm a pretty good writer. Think I might get published in S.W.A.T.?

Looking for the big bucks, huh? Truth is, world class writers are like world class firearms trainers ....they're not in it for the money. If they were, they'd find another line of business! However, we do pay a very competitive fee for published articles. We prefer that authors have some formal Law Enforcement, Military, Personal Protection or Training experience....and we're always looking for good articles on domestic and foreign special teams (military, police and protective).

If you think you've got what it takes, everything you ever wanted to know about writing for S.W.A.T. can be found by clicking on the Quill image at left.
